The Migration File in Libya remains a major humanitarian and security issue, with the country serving as a key transit route for migrants and refugees heading toward Europe. Throughout 2025–2026, Libyan authorities have intensified efforts to curb irregular migration by strengthening border security, dismantling smuggling networks, and promoting the voluntary return and removal of migrants from Libyan territory. At the same time, cooperation with international organizations and European partners has continued amid persistent concerns over migrant protection and human rights.
